Electronic spin and the associated magnetic moment are the subject of spintronics, which deals with solid-state devices.
Spintronics, also known as spin electronics, is the study of electron intrinsic spin and the associated magnetic moment in solid-state devices. It is widely used in quantum computing to investigate the operation of nanoscale electronics.

Spintronics refers to semiconductors, magnetic multilayers, and mass-storage devices that use electron spin to carry information. It employs a variety of metal-based devices, including giant magneto resistance-based (GMRS), tunnel magneto resistance-based (TMRS), spin-transfer torque, and spin-wave logic devices.

The concept of utilising the spinning properties of electrons is expected to open up a whole new range of electronic applications such as MRAM devices, hard disc read heads, sensors, magnetic tunnel transistors, electric vehicles, and so on. Aside from its powerful applications in mass storage, spintronics has the potential to open doors to new opportunities in emerging fields such as nano electronic technology. Thus, spintronics technology has a lot of future opportunities and prospects for growth, which is expected to fuel the spintronics market in the coming years.
