Industrial Mini itx motherboard Gives Rise to Machine Vision Applications

Automatic optical inspection machines require faster image processing to recognize manufacturing defects. Connected to several high-definition cameras, the industrial motherboard can process and analyze captured images to detect a variety of surface defects. Taking advantage of video capture cards installed, the NEX 912 supporting PCIe expansion slots succeeds to recognize nodules, scratches, and stains, all relevant when inspecting cogwheels and printed circuit boards (PCBs). For the latter, it can even recognize imperfections such as open circuits, shorts and thinning of the solder and incorrectly placed or missing components.
The NEX 912, supporting frame grabbers through PCIe slots, yields machine vision for industrial applications. The Mini itx motherboard fosters the food and beverage industry by detecting dimensional defects in the finish and neck of bottles, including cracks, ovalization, thickness, and air tightness. Similarly, it assists in the manufacturing and inspection of large LCD panels to detect flaws that cause optical faults ensuring a cost-efficient production.
Security mechanisms are required in connected factories. The NEX 912, in charge of processing large bulks of acquired images, allows optional support of trusted platform management (TPM 2.0) module and RAID 0, 1, 5, and 10 as well, to increase data availability and security.
