A Beginners Guide to Shoes
Shoes are an essential part of a person's attire. There is no other footwear that goes with more outfits than footwear. Shoes allow free movement of the feet and therefore influence the way a person walks and what they will do next. Shoes therefore are an important feature of any wardrobe. One of the most fundamental parts of a shoe is the heel. The heel is the underside of the shoe and is designed to provide stability and control. The majority of men's and women's shoes have a round heel. Some pairs, mainly children and evening wear, have pointed heels. Heel colors are generally determined by the dominant color of the shoes and may include black, brown, red and white. Some designers add zips and closures to the heels, to make the shoes look fashionable.
One important aspect of the upper is the vamp, which covers the uppermost part of the shoe. The vamp does not cover the end of the toe, but rather, covers the width of the base of the heel. The purpose of the camp is to enhance the appearance of the shoe by adding definition. The materials most commonly used for vamping include fur, leather, vinyl and suede.
The outside is the inside of the shoe and provides protection to the foot. It is typically made of rubber, although the leather is now becoming more popular for athletic shoes. The sole of the shoe may not be covered in uppers. Some popular materials for the outsole include leather, canvas and plastic. The inner lining of the shoe protects the toes and helps to keep the foot dry and comfortable.
An insole is the inside bottom of the shoes, lined with soft synthetic material. The purpose of the insole is to provide protection to the wearer against wear and tear. Common materials used in insoles are rubber, PVC and plastic.
