Is Dreaming A Legitimate Concept?

A person, on average, spends 6 years of their life dreaming. This is not a small amount of time and has fascinated scientists and psychologists worldwide. Dreams, in my personal opinion, are temporary amnesia. You sleep every day and wake up only to realize that the weird collections of images and emotions are now gone, and nothing comes to mind, no matter how hard you try to revive those memories.

Lucid Dreaming

Those who believe a little too intensely in things that exist beyond this world have explored the realm of lucid dreaming. This concept is very well practiced and gives you the power to control your dreams. Lucid dreaming feels like the person is experiencing the dream in real life and can control their actions. While all this goes on, you can feel emotions, and each step has consequences. Lucid dreaming, for some, has proven to be very confusing and can make them confuse reality with dreams. It alters their perception of reality and makes one question their very existence.

Being too involved in dreaming will also cause you to lose sleep. Spending a lot of days simply lucid dreaming and not letting your brain rest is not a natural concept, but it will cause you to sleep fewer hours at night. You may have had an adventure in the dream, but once you’re awake, you will be just as tired as you might have been the night before. The excessive brain activity needed for lucid dreams makes it harder for the brain to rest.

With the concept of lucid dreaming, one can understand how something beyond does exist and how the experiences feel real may have a connection to the real world. The only thing that actually connects the world hereafter and the world that exists right now is the concept of the soul. A person’s soul travels through realms after one is asleep and may even see things that have yet to happen.

Belief Or Proof?

Many religious stances have stated that people have seen events take place that had not yet happened through their dreams. A recent book by Joseph Nutturno also mentions how dreams warned a couple about how their child might be a little too special. Though fictional, it is a great read that will keep the reader busy for a couple of hours while reading.

With time, science has contributed to studying the sleep cycle and has helped many with logical theories. There are two states of sleep, rapid eye movement and non-rapid eye movement. Dreams mostly occur in the state of rapid eye movement. In the REM form of sleep, brain activity is known to increase and is also the reason why people actually dream.

People may see signs in their dreams, but this concept lies with the argument of having faith and wanting proof of the non-existent. Dreaming is a legitimate concept, and people spend most of their time dreaming. However, it is still unknown why an individual forgets major events that take place in dreams
