Frontier Airlines Frequent Flyer Programme

If you’re planning on travelling with Frontier Airlines, it pays to know what you’re doing. There are a lot of rules, restrictions and limits involved in the Frontier Airlines Frequent Flyer Programme, and it can be difficult to navigate without prior knowledge of how everything works. If you want to use this airline as often as possible, be sure to read through this list of 10 things to know about the Frontier Airlines Frequent Flyer Programme before booking your next flight. You’ll have more success earning miles and redeeming them for free flights if you understand exactly how everything works!

 1) How does it Work?

How does Frontier Airlines' frequent flyer programme work? As a member of their mileage club, you earn free travel for simply flying with them. Points are awarded on each flight according to how far and where you fly. At certain thresholds, you can redeem your points for tickets or upgrades. Rewards range from as little as 5,000 miles (worth one round-trip domestic flight) up to 60,000 miles (worth a first-class international round-trip ticket). Member benefits include special fares and discounts on things like hotels and rental cars. Eligible purchases made using your Frontier airlines credit card also earn points—2% of your purchase price plus 2X points at participating restaurants, gas stations, car rental agencies and grocery stores; 1X point everywhere else.

 2) Why should I use it?

If you fly Frontier with a certain frequency, you can easily rack up some serious miles that can be redeemed for free flights, gift cards and more. So, if you’re looking to save money on your travels but want to still get high-quality service and experience, consider joining an airline’s frequent flyer programme. Here are 10 things you should know about one of these programs in particular: Frontier Airlines’ frequent flyer programme.

 3) Redeeming Awards is Easy

Award availability and bookings can be made up to 331 days in advance. Seats are only available for reservation by Elite Members, so you’ll need to log in to access your account and make your booking. A credit card will be required upon check-in as a form of payment; you may, however, also pay with Cash & Points if you have enough rewards points on your account. With some Frontier airlines, awarding miles is more cost effective than buying them. Redeeming for one way awards costs 10% of what it would take to buy an award ticket that was going there and back; but when it comes to redeeming Frontier Awards, you’ll only be charged half of what it would cost to purchase a round trip ticket in cash.

 4) You Can Earn Points with multiple airlines

Frontier allows you to earn and use points on multiple airlines, with all miles being converted into OnePass Miles. For example, if you redeem your points for a flight on American Airlines you will receive AAdvantage miles. If your dream trip is available on Southwest or JetBlue, but not American, then redeeming Frontier points can help make it happen. You'll be able to search across a variety of airlines and routes in our easy-to-use search engine so that you can find your perfect travel reward. Points never expire: With OnePass Elite, Elite Saver or Classic status memberships - plus select any other membership tier - once earned they never expire as long as your account remains open and in good standing.

 5) Miles are easy to use

If you’re planning on flying with Frontier, it’s a good idea to maximize your miles! Elite status is based on how many miles you fly in a given year. You’ll earn a small number of elite-qualifying miles (ranging from 5-500) for each flight you take. While only 20% of those who fly with Frontier become eligible for Elite status, there are other ways to reach Platinum Elite or Diamond Elite—as well as full details about benefits and qualifications.

 6) Fuel Surcharges Affect Redemption Value

Even though there are no fuel surcharges on award tickets, redeeming miles for a flight with high fuel surcharges can reduce your award redemption value by as much as 25%. As a result, it’s important to know whether or not your desired flight will incur high fuel surcharges. If you are redeeming miles for an award ticket, use Frontier’s Mileage Calculator tool to make sure your flight will have low or no fuel surcharges. Otherwise, you may find yourself with fewer miles than expected!

 7) Your points have no expiration date

When you fly a certain number of miles, you will gain status within the Frontier Airlines frequent flyer programme. As your status increases so does your benefits and privileges. Benefits can include: priority boarding, free checked baggage, free drink coupons and companion fares. Every 50% increase in miles gains you a new level up to Elite Status level. Below is a quick guide to gaining different levels of status with Frontier Airlines.

 8) Earning Miles

Miles are earned every time you fly with Frontier Arilines Flights. Unlike some airlines where you earn miles only when purchasing tickets, earning miles is universal with Frontier. You will receive one mile for every dollar spent on your flight. When redeeming your miles, you have a number of options available to you: Pay per Mile: Redeem your miles for any dollar amount and simply pay at that rate. You can use award travel to get anywhere they fly with no blackout dates (subject to availability). Cash & Points Award: Use your cash or points to buy a ticket and any difference in cost will be paid by redeeming mileage credit toward that purchase.

 9) Elite Status Gains & Benefits

Being able to fly with a few of your favorite airlines is nice and being able to reach elite status on those carriers is even better. But some of these frequent flyer programs frontier are also pretty complicated and hard to manage. Being an Elite member in a Star Alliance airline doesn’t entitle you to extra benefits when flying other Star Alliance members, for example; if you want them, you have to book a separate ticket that costs more miles. So how do you know what program offers what? Like most major US-based airlines, Frontier Airlines operates a loyalty programme called EarlyReturns. While it has no equivalent to American Airlines AAdvantage Gold or United MileagePlus Silver status, it does offer its own special tier system: Platinum (25K points), Gold (15K points), Silver (10K points) and Bronze (5K points). Reaching higher tiers gives you access to some great perks like priority boarding, free checked bags and waived change fees among others.

 10) What Could Improve?

For travellers who want to be a part of a frequent flyer programme that offers great opportunities, perks and rewards on everyday spending, there’s no better option than becoming a member of Frontier Airlines' loyalty programme. With a list of top-tier benefits for frequent flyers – including free upgrades, no blackout dates and access to special offers and promotions – it’s easy to see why so many people are choosing to become Frontier Mileage Plan members. As with any loyalty programme, however, there are things that could be improved as well.
