Upcoming Challenges in Physical Security Industry

Easy accessibility to technologies and rising income disparities give rise to several security threats. Be it physical or digital safety, both are experiencing a threat. Therefore, to counter the upcoming challenges, the security guard industry will embrace the below-mentioned changes.

1. Integration of Technology in the Physical Security Industry
Integration of innovative technology in managing the physical and premises security will be more in trend in 2023.  The use of hybrid cameras, apps and other technological measures will get attention. Human and technology integration will make things easier for the people accessing buildings or events, as well as for the security guards who are managing them.

Some of the recent examples of such technological extensions are security drones, the MYGate app, and smartphone technology that offers features like mobile security logbook, real-time reporting, photo and signatures, visitor approval system etc.

2. Worker Shortage
There is no denying it, but there will be a need for a dedicated security guard workforce. Agencies spend a lot of resources on training guards. A high attrition rate will throw a massive challenge ahead of security agencies.

As a result, security agencies that will offer better employment opportunities, look after the interests of their guards, and empower them with the latest technological devices will surely win the race. Such security guard companies will create a reputation for themself, and will not experience worker shortage at all. Whereas, other mediocre security agencies may experience the jolt.

3. Risk Assessment and Analysis
Advanced risk assessment and analysis is highly crucial to mitigate the loss of time and reputation and avoidance of harmful situations. Statistical data will be used for assessment and analysis. Security agencies will empower their guards to anticipate problems before their occurrence. Agencies will invest more time in skill assessment while hiring new guards.  This approach will provide them with a competitive edge.

4. Extended Security Guard Training
Several times, mediocre security guard agencies overlook the training of their security guards. Although many security guards come from a law enforcement and defence background that provides them with enough expertise to handle emergency situations. Still, it doesn’t give an excuse to security guard agencies to escape from their responsibility.

In 2023, security guard companies will put more emphasis on advanced training. Drone operating knowledge, training to handle unpleasant situations at the workplace, and more intense training on the usage of weapons will get attention.

5. Focus on the Welfare of Security Guards
In the NCR region, abusing security guards has become an acute problem. In most cases, security guards look helpless in front of gullible residents. There is a dire need to address the problem immediately.

Therefore, we are assuming that in 2023, more security guard companies will invest in their guard’s welfare and safety. Guards will be empowered with training to handle such spats skillfully. Agencies will invest in technological devices to avoid resident and guard interaction.
