Shelving is commonly 45 centimetres deep and often includes pegs to allow you to adjust the height of the shelf to personal preferred heights. Well designed shelves and draws can really increase your storage capacity keeping your clothes well organised and free from dust. The standard depth of a wardrobe is 530mm , anything smaller will effect hanging space.
By using flat pack cabinets and accessories and doing it yourself, you can have the look of a $5000 built-in for about $2000. These cabinets are readily available – all you need do is put them together. If depth is a concern, note that a wardrobe needs to be at least 580mm deep for clothes to hang properly.
You can choose standard covered doors, or keep the whole lot open, so you can see your clothing and accessories at a glance. To save more space, you can build deep shoe racks and put the shoes you do not regularly wear deeper in the back.
