When I moved to New York from Belgium to work as theExecutive Chef to the Belgian Ambassador of the UN, I often served my chocolatemousse in the official lunches and dinners until it ultimately became mysignature dessert: secretaries of honorary guests would call in advance for thespecial dessert request. Soon after, I started receiving orders for my mousseintended for private events, and that is how it all began.
Growing up in Belgium, it was in the kitchen that wouldspend most of my time watching my grandfather Jozef, a local baker in OldAntwerp. Those were the days where everything was made fresh daily and sourcedfrom local farmers. I made my very first batch of chocolate mousse when I was 8years old following “bompa” Jozef’s traditional techniques and a simple, yetsecret, recipe. It was only later in life that I came to realize that thoseprecious moments next to my grandfather in the kitchen had taught me much morethan just great recipes, but priceless life lessons, including my standards asa professional Chef.
Mojo—a short cut for Mousse by Johan—brings the magic of theold times and it is in this spirit, that today i invite you to have a taste ofmy childhood, a taste of real Belgian chocolate mousse, a taste of Mojo: Puremagic!

The first “Mousse Bar” in America
After 3 years of selling his mousses to specialty stores inNYC, Chef Johan just opened the first-ever Chocolate Mousse Bar in the US.
At the Mousse Bar a special selection of 3 classicflavors: dark 70% + white + hazelnut praline is complemented by 2 rotatingflavors: currently Passion Fruit + Ruby Chocolate and Matcha. Mousses arefreshly scooped into cups to stay or to go - also sold per pound.
The shop located in East Harlem, a mix of dessert and coffeeshop, is open everyday for breakfast with a special selection of deliciouspastries (croissants and warm brazilian pao de queijo), premium coffees and juices.The cozy seating area and the friendly staff makes it very unique - a placefull of MOJO.
