This Halloween, why not try something a little different and dress up as a honey bee? With some simple supplies and a few hours of work, you can create a costume that will have you flying high all night long. Not to mention, it’s a great way to get into the spirit of the season and support your local pollinators!

What You'll Need

-1 yard of orange felt

-1/4 yard of Great post to read black felt

-1/4 yard of yellow felt

-Scissors

-Glue

-String

To make your own flying honey bee costume, you'll need just a few supplies. First, gather up some orange, black, and yellow felt. You'll need about a yard of the orange felt for the body and wings, and smaller pieces of the black and yellow for the stripes and details. Next, find some scissors and glue, then string or ribbon to tie everything on.

How to Make the Wings

1. Cut two identical wing shapes out of cardboard.

2. Paint the wings with a gold or yellow paint, or cover them in glitter.

3. Attach the wings to your back with string or elastic.

4. If you want, you can add some fake bees to your costume by attaching them to the wings with safety pins.
