Acne is one of the commonly seen skin ailments in teens. By mid-teenage, over 40% of them tend to develop acne such that it needs a special dermatologist treatment. However, even adults in their 40s or 50s can be acne patients, says American Academy of Dermatology. Marked by pimples, plugged pores, and deeper cysts, the ailment may start as early as during puberty. Although there are a few known causes of acne, the recent studies point out to one more cause – Demodex parasites feeding under the subcutaneous glands as well as hair follicles. These mites are believed to cause inflammatory symptoms of acne, which tend to make one feel quite embarrassing. Therefore, there should be a treatment that can effectively tackle these worms without any side effects.
