Last October, I along with my colleagues visited Delhi as part of additional training of our company. We stayed at Thikana Guest House located at the centre of the city. We were offered five recently renovated rooms, each having a luxurious modern ensuite bathroom.
Our training was for 1 week. We all decided to stay back the next whole weekend and explore the whole city. Delhi is a historic city which witnessed the rise and fall of all empires with different names such as Indraprastha and Tughlaqabad.
There are numerous ancient forts, mosques, tombs, minarets, monuments and historical buildings which are silent narrators of the glorious past of the city. The major landmark to the city is the Red Fort on the banks of the river Yamuna. The Red Fort was built by Shah Jahan. The main portions of the Red Fort we visited were Diwan-e-Khas, Diwan-e-Aam, Rang Mahal, etc. Each of these portions of the Fort were used for different purposes.
