I along with my cousins had a small weekend getaway to Lonavala. Our trip was for just two days. Lonavala is a beautiful hill station of Maharashtra. The hill station is also known as the Jewel of the Sahyadri. We had to travel about 65 kms from Pune to reach Lonavala. The climate was very pleasant there with rain showers every once in a while. We stayed at Samrat resort.

Our first sight visit in lonavala was to Karla Caves. It is a must visit spot in Lonavala where we could see the exotic caves. There is a temple of Ekvira devi in front of the caves which is truly attractive. Karla caves were beautiful with detailed images and interesting pillars. The rock carvings made inside the cave was really great. Hats off to the talented people of the 4th century. Though the spot was under Archaeological Survey of India we could not see any officer from ASI there. Most of the parts were closed.
