Evolution took a million years to change the Brain, Neurosurgeons take a few hours.

The human body is controlled by the brain. The brain doesn’t function alone, it takes the help of the spinal cord and a vast network of nerves to communicate with cells, glands, and muscles all over the body.

This information highway needs to be properly maintained to function effectively; this is where a Neurosurgeon comes in. A Neurosurgeon diagnoses and treats conditions related to the nervous system.

What is the scope of Neurology?

Neurology is a branch of medicine that deals with the anatomy and functions of the nervous system to diagnose and treat nervous disorders. Neurology is practiced by Neurologists and Neurosurgeons.

The demand for Neurosurgeons is omnipresent due to the nature of the human body. Spinal and brain injuries are ever prevalent and so is the human desire to cure these injuries. This brings us to the conclusion that the scope of Neurology will never die out.

Okay but what exactly does a Neurosurgeon do? Do they spend their entire career in an operation theatre? Read on to find out.

What does a Neurosurgeon do?

A Neurosurgeon diagnosis evaluates and treats disorders of the brain, the spine, and other components of the nervous system as mentioned earlier. Neurosurgeons do not spend their entire medical careers in the operation theatre. They are also consulted by Neurologists to determine the best course of action to treat a patient.

A Neurosurgeon is quite different from a Neurologist. The main difference between Neurology vs. Neurosurgery is the fact that Neurologists treat disorders using medication or therapy.
