Spiritual schooling in the west has frequently been taken for granted. Most schools teach a fundamental faith to kids, and parents often don't pay sufficient attention to instilling a strong religious framework in their kids. But, there's a new sort of spiritual education emerging that is starting to replace spiritual education all around the world. It has its origins in the work of American sociologist William Phillips and his book, Spirit Of Success. Phillips contended that most successful people are spiritual beings, profoundly motivated to succeed because they have a desire for God. They possess an inner spiritual light that comes through when their spirits are exposed to God. They have a vision of God's glory, and they know how to proceed from the wholeness of the soul.
Because of the popularity of the Spirit of succeeding, other teachers are now starting to take precedence over spiritual education. While Phillips believed that the method where children learn about God should be as individual and personal as their own personal spiritual journeys, many contemporary teachers have yet to catch up with Phillips' concept. They still teach children about God, but they also put God's greatness and power second. They tell kids that though they have an understanding of what and who God is, they don't have to become Christians only yet. Since they don't fully comprehend the teachings of Jesus, they have to place the"power of God" second, so they could provide moral guidelines and facts without placing Jesus or God in battle with each other.
Spiritual teachers have noticed that many people in the contemporary world have lost the ability to connect with their spiritual beliefs. Many individuals have been led to think that all of life is pointless and there is no significance in existence. The"Gnostic" movement, which was born from this vacuum, taught that there is not any way to acquire any sort of understanding about God. This caused a wide divide between people of different religious and non-religious faiths and created a vacuum that has not yet been filled.
Phillips was born into a family of educators. He discovered early that he had to give a whole lot more than his understanding to realize his objectives. He started to understand that if he was planning to use his wisdom, it would take him to use his mind as well. He had to develop two wings of spirituality: a strong conviction in the existence of a celestial force and a strong commitment to social influence.
Spiritual instruction helps us to see that we are part of a divine plan. It helps to understand that each and every person is important and that our actions have a ripple effect on the Divine Plan. Our choices affect not only another individual we meet, but the total Divine Plan. When we follow its directions, we'll have the ability to move forwards as completely as we could and find true joy.
As Phillips began to understand his beliefs more fully, he started to unite the two wings of spirituality he believed were necessary in order to move toward true freedom and satisfaction. One of both of these wings, the side of faith, allowed him to utilize his mind for a medium through which he could connect to the soul guides. He could pray to them, get in contact with their messages, and receive advice in areas of his life that were problematic. Another wing of spirituality, both sides of faith, taught him to focus on the relationship he had with the celestial, the connection he felt with aliens, and the peace he felt in his heart. The two wings functioned in tandem, and if they did, the real change came about.
This relationship with the spirit requires two items. The first is a personal level, instinctual connection that can be developed through prayer and meditation. The second is an inner discipline that functions to build up the spirit and its inherent spiritual virtues. Phillips worked diligently to connect his spiritual education with his spiritual beliefs, and with this endeavor came much appreciation and encouragement from those who heard his thought.
