Blame it on the slump in Chinese economy or the reducing demand for cotton from Pakistan; these are times that need special measures to keep the industry on its feet. Recently, Pakistan imposed a 10% regulatory duty on imports of yarn and Cotton yarn suppliers in India are already inconvenienced by it. On top of that the domestic demand for cotton and cotton products have been under threat from imports from Bangladesh, Vietnam and other neighboring nations. The only effective way to put a stop on the losses incurred by the industry is through government action. Steps to get the government’s support on this matter are already underway.
