1-Ethylcyclohexa-1,4-diene is an impurity of Cephalosporin antibacterial drug Cefradine. Cefradine is a semi-synthetic first-generation beta-lactam antibiotic with similar activity that of Cephalexin. Cefradine works by inhibiting the third and last stage of bacterial cell wall synthesis, by binding to specific penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) located inside the bacterial cell wall. It is used in the treatment of skin diseases, soft tissue infections, Staphylococcal infections, Streptococcal infections, urinary tract infections and Escherichia coli infections.
