You know the model of the door. The refrigerator has a water filter and an external filter that is 5,000 gallons. The water that passes through these filters has a different taste from the water that comes directly out of the tap. No taste of chlorine, ammonia or metal. It's just pure water.
We have been using water for coffee pots through refrigerator filters for many years. It is slow and consumes electricity to cool the water before heating the coffee. We thought there should be a better way.
So the last time I was in Lowes, I looked at what water filters I could find. There were many filters. All types of water filters. All different price ranges and different flow capacities. There were a lot of differences. So, I do what I do whenever I need plumbing help. I call James a plumber who happened to be my son. Meet me and we will discuss all options.

We already had a hatch to have a water dispenser. It had a soap maker that was never used, so we threw away the soap dispenser and replaced it with a new water dispenser.
Several screws were required to mount the filters in the Aquarium cabinet. The plastic hose is positioned from the edge of the filter assembly to the tap. It was a light bundle.
The inlet hose extends from the cold water supply to the other side of the filter set. Here we changed the configuration. The set includes an adapter that allows you to remove the hose from the cold water shut-off valve under the faucet and insert the plastic fittings. Instead, we placed a brass assembly that allowed us to do so, but in a location next to the shut-off valve. And it was very easy to install.
Then we turned on the water again and checked for leaks. Nothing was found. We then ran the water for 10 minutes to clean the filter. A water filter system must be installed under the kitchen sink.
How long does it take us? It took me 1 minute 40 seconds to fill the coffee pot with a filter on the refrigerator door. Now we can do the same in 20 seconds, and my family better suits their coffee tastes.
