New Volkswagen Taigo design
The front end of the Volkswagen Taigo is similar to the diminutive T-Cross and larger T-Roc SUVs but look closely and you'll notice rounder headlights and some more racing-inspired trims on the bumper -- especially on the R -Line in disguise (shown here.)
The biggest change is evident from the side where the new Volkswagen Taigo gets a sports coupe-style roofline. Well it's not an Audi TT but it looks sportier than other small crossover SUVs like the SEAT Arona and Skoda Kamiq.
Depending on the trim you choose you can choose from 16- to 18-inch alloys.
A lightweight full-width light bar similar to the T-Cross is found at the rear of the Volkswagen Taigo albeit with a more angular interior for its LEDs.
New Volkswagen Taigo interior and infotainment system
The interior of the Volkswagen Taigo is fairly standard for a Volkswagen small car. There is nothing strange about the fairly clean and simple design throughout.
You do get a digital watch face on the 8-inch screen though. This can be upgraded to a 10.25-inch display with configurable modes allowing you to choose the information you want displayed in front of you.
A 6.5-inch infotainment system with basic radio and smartphone functionality is also standard but you can have a larger 8- or 9.2-inch unit if you prefer. The latter two also support Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and add wireless smartphone mirroring across the board.
New Volkswagen Taigo engines
The Volkswagen Taigo will be offered with three petrol engines. Two of these are 1.0-liter petrol units with 95 and 110 horsepower respectively but a more powerful 150-hp 1.5-liter unit is also available.
All feed power to the front wheels with a five-speed manual transmission for the 95-hp car and a six-speed manual for the 110- and 150-hp cars. You can also opt for a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
New Volkswagen Taigo semi-autonomous driving technology
You'll be able to choose from Volkswagen's latest 'Travel Assist' technology on the Taigo.
This semi-autonomous system allows the car to control its acceleration braking and steering systems on the highway. It's essentially an upgraded adaptive cruise control system.
