Blister packing is a type of packaging used for tiny consumer goods, medical gadgets, and pharmaceuticals. As a result, it falls within the category of unit dose packing. Blister packaging is often manufactured by thermoforming a plastic sheet into many blisters and a small pocket or cup to hold the contents. Blister packs are a low-cost packaging technique for safeguarding a product from tampering and avoiding exposure to external variables such as temperature, humidity, and others.

Blister packaging has four major components. These are the forming film, lidding, heat-seal coating, and printing. The major structural components that account for practically the entire weight of the packaging are the forming film and lidding.
