But, today I am sharing with you a simple and easy chicken biryani recipe that anyone can make with a few ingredients. Biryani was prepared once in a while during occasions nowadays biryani is an everyday meal.

complicated dish to prepare. But, today I am sharing with you a simple and easy chicken biryani

recipe that anyone can make with a few ingredients. Biryani was prepared once in a while

During  occasions , nowadays biryani is an everyday meal.

My simple recipe will help you to make chicken biryani frequently.

History of biryani

The word “biryani” comes from the Persian word “ birian ” which means “fried before cooking.” It is believed that biryani originated from Persia and was introduced in India by the Mughals.

There are many kinds of biryani there.

Ingredients

Chicken – 1 Kg skinless chicken pieces cut into chunks

Khaima  rice – 4 cup (250 ml cup)

Onion – 4 medium

Garlic – 1 small bulb

Fresh Ginger – 2-inch piece

Green Chilly – 10

Tomato – 2 medium

Coriander Leaves – A handful

Mint Leaves – A handful

Turmeric powder – ½ teaspoon

Garam masala powder – ½ teaspoon

Salt – As required

Ghee – 4 Tablespoon

Oil – 4 Tablespoon

Cardamom – 5 pods

Clove – 3 whole

Cinnamon – 1-inch stick

Lime juice – ½ lime

Hot water – 9 cups

 

Preparation

Marinate the chicken with turmeric powder, Garam masala and salt. Keep it aside for half an

hour. Take a medium size pot, add 2 tablespoon of oil. Fry the chicken on medium heat. Once

fried, take the chicken out. Add 2 tablespoon of ghee , thinly sliced onion (keep ½ cup of onion

for preparing the rice),salt as required and sauté well. When the onion turns light brown add

ginger, garlic and chilly crushed. Once the raw smell is gone add sliced tomatoes and mix it

well. Add chicken, coriander leaves, mint leaves and stir it well. Cover and cook over low heat

for 5 minutes. Add 2 cups of hot water and then make the flame high. When it starts boiling, add

cardamom, cloves and cinnamon. Cover and cook for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes make the flame to

medium and cook until the chicken becomes tender. Add the lime juice and stir well. Turn of the

flame.

For Rice

Take medium size pot, add 2 tablespoon of ghee and 2 tablespoon of oil , then add the sliced

onion and fry till it turns brown in color .Once fried take the onion out and keep aside. In the

same pot add the Rice (washed and strained ) and sauté it on high flame till you hear a

crackling sound then add 7 cups of boiling water .cover and cook on medium flame till the rice

comes to the level of water then make the flame on low and cook it for 10 minutes and switch off

the flame . Don’t stir the rice .

Dum time

Take the chicken masala pot and turn on the stove on medium flame .Add the half of the rice

on top of the masala then add half of the fried onion and little coriander leaves .again add the

rest of the rice ,fried onion and coriander leaves. cover the pot and cook it for 20 minutes on low

flame. After 20 minutes, switch off the flame. Don’t open the lid for at least 15 minutes. Your

yummy and aromatic chicken biryani is ready to serve.

Tips

Before covering for Dum, add ½ a cup of milk on top of the rice. It will  give you a good aroma and softness to your chicken biryani.
