Buprenorphine

Buprenorphine is an opioid that is used to treat opioid addiction, acute and chronic pain. It can be used sublingually (under the tongue), buccally (in the cheek), by injection (intravenous and subcutaneous), as a skin patch (transdermal), or as an implant Buprenorphine Market. It is typically started for opioid use disorder when withdrawal symptoms begin and for the first two days of treatment under the direct supervision of a health-care provider. To discourage injection misuse, the combination formulation of buprenorphine/naloxone (Suboxone) is usually prescribed in the United States. Maximum pain relief is usually achieved within an hour, with effects lasting up to 24 hours. Respiratory depression may be less severe than with other opioids, especially with long-term use.
